Service Description

Are you ready to dive into a world of adventure, creativity, and imagination? Join us for Books & Blocks: Virtual Minecraft Book Club, where young readers ages 6-10 can explore the first book in the Minecraft Woodsword Chronicles series, "Into the Game!", and bring the story to life by building in Minecraft Education! This five-week virtual program combines the magic of reading, the fun of storytelling, and the excitement of Minecraft all in one. Each week, we’ll read together, discuss the story, and craft our own digital world based on what we’ve read. We encourage participants to purchase their own copies of "Into the Game!" to follow along with the story. Weekly Sessions: Each week, we’ll meet virtually on Google Meet from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. The first portion will be dedicated to a read-aloud of a few chapters from Into the Game!, followed by a brief discussion to ensure comprehension. Afterward, participants will spend some time journaling or answering guided questions to reflect on what we’ve read. Finally, we’ll dive into Minecraft Education, where participants will collaborate to build in a shared world based on scenes, ideas, or themes from the book. Program Commitment: This program runs for five consecutive weeks, with sessions held every Sunday from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. We ask that participants commit to attending all five weeks to get the most out of the experience. After completing this round, families will have the opportunity to register for the second round, where we’ll read the second book in the Minecraft Woodsword Chronicles series. Participation in the second round is not required but will be available for those who want to continue the adventure. Technology & Online Safety: VLN will provide the login information and licenses for Minecraft Education, but it is the family’s responsibility to ensure the software is downloaded and ready to use on a supported device. You can check if your device is compatible with Minecraft Education by visiting this link: Minecraft Education System Requirements. Since this is a virtual program, families must ensure their child has access to a device capable of running both a Google Meet call and Minecraft Education simultaneously, such as an iPad or PC. During our first session, we’ll review online safety, respect for our fellow club members, and set clear community guidelines to ensure a positive, respectful, and creative environment for all participants.
